Despite the most recent occurrences in Egypt politics and society, girls and young women of Egypt have struggled with rising above cultural barriers and obstacles presented before them on a daily basis. Heya Masr arises from the mind of Founder, Moody Demetry, who in wanting more for his Egyptian sisters envisioned Heya Masr to be an opportunity to reach Egyptian youth, specifically females, at a time when they can be proactive rather than reactive to the changing environment of the Egyptian society. A team of passionate volunteers drives the organization with backgrounds in the fields of human rights, youth, gender, health, and social services.
Heya Masr is a volunteer-based social enterprise initiative in Egypt with a mission of restoring sense of dignity and pride in the young Egyptian women (ages 9-18) by building their self-confidence and empowering them mentally and physically to develop and strengthen their character from the ground up by providing a nurturing safe environment for physical activity and sport, nutritional and healthy lifestyle techniques, character development activities, sexual harassment awareness and self-defense
strategies. Heya Masr empowering today’s young generation of girls now for better Egypt tomorrow.
